Shirley Plotnik is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with a Master of Science in Nutrition from Johnson & Wales University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Florida International University. In addition, Shirley earned a Certified Personal Trainer certification from the International Fitness Association and worked as an in-person trainer, as well as an online coach. Shirley also has extensive clinical nutrition experience working with patients with diabetes, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and gastrointestinal disorders.
Shirley was first introduced to sports nutrition during her dietetic internship where she worked with the University of Miami’s football team, as well as the Rutger’s University football team. During her time with both teams, Shirley provided collegiate and NFL prospect players with nutrition and hydration guidance, created personalized meal plans, assisted with hydration and fueling during practices and games, and collaborated with caterers to ensure athletes received proper fuel.
Beyond her experiences in team sports, Shirley has worked with high school and collegiate athletes across various disciplines including, but not limited to, running, cycling, and swimming. As an athlete herself, Shirley emphasizes the importance of properly fueling for performance to reach an athlete’s full potential, while prioritizing overall health and preventing injuries.
